The music industry can be a dirty business. But then again you’ve already heard that. Well, Just Another Day is another raw look into that world. Even the beginning of the movie serves up a gritty look at the hip-hop scene, as troubled rapper A-Maze (played by Wood Harris) struggles to keep a hold on his career and his life. A night club incident involving another rapper sends him into a free fall, while industry people seek to turn his misfortune into a 50 Cent/Ja Rule type beef. Meanwhile, a young upstart, Young Eastie, deals drugs at his fast food job to pay for a demo to give A-Maze. He hopes for a chance at making his music dreams come true but he has to hopscotch a myriad of issues, including a gun happy Roman (played by Trick Daddy) before reaching his hip hop hero.

Just Another Day gives insight into the grimy part of the music business in a way that only an independent film can. It also pays homage to the ‘what goes around, comes around’ creed. It’s so easy to look down on others while you’re on top. This movie reminds you that, in the music industry, you’re days on top are always numbered.
