Wanted
☺☺☺ ½ A Thrilling Ride
Pardon the contrived expression but, in this instance, it actually applies. Sometimes you will feel like you’re riding in the car with the secret assassins as they vroom and swish down the street on their elaborate car chases and killing sprees. Wanted has the usual twists and turns with nothing being exactly as it seems.and more drama is easy to find when you mix insecurity, money and the fast life.
Based on Mark Millar's novel series, the story follows 25-year-old unhappy, anxiety-ridden account manager, Wesley Gibson (played by James McAvoy). He is disillusioned, while trying to find out who he is and where his life is going -- that is until he meets the deadly, mysterious Fox (played by Angelina Jolie).
Through Fox, he is introduced and recruited to a secret society called the Fraternity, where he’s told that he must avenge his father’s death. They kick the snot out of him but, in turn, make him stronger than he ever thought he could be. After they help him unlock his dormant powers, he develops phenomenal reflexes and agility and learns to like his newfound freedom and power as an assassin to the “bad guys.”
Unfortunately, Wesley finds that there’s more to the story and that his father is not who he thinks he is, leaving him with the option to run or fight on his own. Audiences will go for the over-the-top special affects and attempts to answer deep questions. Wanted is a true unexpected crowd pleaser.
