KIM, REGGIE: WE CAN’T STAY AWAY

Ah, Love. It has to be for reality star Kim Kardshian and NFL athlete Reggie Bush. The two reportedly broke up about three weeks ago but continue to hang around each other. I personally think that if you’re going to move on, you have to move all the way on. In this case, they may not be ready. Perhaps they should give it another try to determine whether they are good and tired of being together.
Do you still hang around someone you’ve broken up with?
DJ AM: ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST

Is it me or are people dropping like flies this year? It’s really weird. Of course, people die everyday all over the world but I don’t remember so many entertainers and public figures dying in one year. 2009 isn’t even over yet! Last night, I came home from a Jaime Foxx concert to find out that DJ AM was found dead in his New York apartment. Authorities found prescription drugs and a glass crack pipe next to him.
I think there are several lessons in all of this. The main lesson is that we should all make the absolute most of our lives. There are no excuses. Tomorrow isn’t promised. So, make sure you do all that you can do today. That includes spending time with family and friends, as well as getting (and staying) on your grind. If you have a dream, pursue it relentlessly. There’s no time for doubt. Release yourself from the shackles of fear and melancholy.
What do you think of so many entertainers passing away?
AALIYAH, ANNIVERSARIES AND BIRTHDAYS

So today is yours truly birthday. I wake up and I log on to Twitter. I immediately see what’s on a lot people’s minds: the anniversary of singer Aaliyah’s death. Although I’d never forget her, I had forgotten about her death day. To be honest, it now feels kind of morbid to celebrate someone’s death on someone’s birthday, which got me to thinking. Why do we celebrate someone on the anniversary of their passing? Why not honor them on their birthday? For Aaliyah, that was the beginning of the wonderful life that she led and I think honoring her on her birthday (January 16th) forces us to remember her in a positive light.
Do you think it’s good to only honor Aaliyah on the day she passed?
NELLY AND ASHANTI: BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO

Rapper Nelly and former Murder Inc Princess Ashanti have called off their five year relationship. This comes after Ashanti reportedly said that marriage was definitely in the cards. Some reports say that Nelly has moved on to other women quickly, while Ashanti is still mending a broken heart. I think she really did see them getting married. Why else would she hang in there so long? But I’ve had a feeling for awhile that those two wouldn’t get married. If there’s no reconciliation in sight, I hope she heals and is able to move on.
Five years is a long time to be with someone. Is there a limit to how long a woman (say Ashanti) should wait for the relationship to develop into marriage?
TRUE BLOOD HOOPLA

If you’ve been watching HBO’s True Blood, you’re familiar with characters Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Sookie (Anna Paquin). It’s taken almost a year for the two actors to confirm that they are a couple. Recently, they’ve also confirmed they’re planning to get married. Rumors have spread that Paquin is pregnant, which her rep denies. I don’t believe she’s really pregnant. However, I am happy for the couple and I think it was a good idea for them to initially keep the relationship under wraps. This allowed the show to excel on its own merit, instead of relying on publicity stunts. Well done!
Do you think Moyer and Paquin’s decision to hide their relationship helped the show?
OMAROSA: FOR THE LORD

It’s good to see someone make an attempt at changing their life. Former apprentice contestant and reality TV villain Omarosa has enrolled in United Theological Seminary to get a doctorate in ministry. An associate dean at the school is certain that Omarosa’s past behavior will help people relate to her. Apparently, she has already done charitable work with the homeless in Haiti. I think it takes a certain amount of love and generosity to take on ministry. I hope she greets this challenge with openness and sincerity.
Do you think Omarosa would make a good minister?
JAMIE’S SECRET BABY

Word has it that singer/actor/comedian Jamie Foxx has a secret baby. His former co-star, Gabrielle Beauvais-Nilon spilled the beans on The Wendy Williams Show while talking about him. When I think about it, I don’t know that this was really a secret. Nobody (probably) ever asked Jamie if he had more kids. Even though he seems to prefer secrecy about his new baby, I don’t think this will have any impact on him.
Why do you think Jaime Foxx hid news of his baby?
WHY PAULA MIGHT BE UNDERPAID

Rumor has it that American Idol judge Paula Abdul may be coming back to the show. The salary amount in question is allegedly $10 million. This is a sharp contrast from the $45 million host Ryan Seacrest is making. And we won’t even talk about fellow judge Simon Cowell’s money. I do hope she is able to return. However, I also understand if she feels she doesn’t want to be there. Unfortunately, American Idol may be as good as it gets for her, unless she produces her own show. She’s popular but she’s not quite the staple that Seacrest and Cowell are. Sorry.
Why do you think Paula Abdul doesn’t get more money on Idol?
BIG PUN’S WIDOW HOMELESS

Liza Rios and her three children are staying in a New York homeless shelter. Big Pun's widow says she received $160,000 dollars from her husband’s publishing but she’s spent $120,000 on the mortgage over the past 5 years. In my opinion, the minute she realized how much money was going out, she should’ve moved into another more affordable house. She could’ve then used the money she saved to take care of her children and give her time to find income generating opportunities. It was a bad business decision for her to stay in that particular house knowing that she didn’t have the wherewithal to pay for it. Personally, I think she probably could’ve written a book or participated in public speaking.
What do you think Big Pun’s widow should do now?
VICK: WHERE TO NOW

Troubled NFL quarterback Michael Vick is cleared to start playing professional football again. Now, many are speculating which teams will accept him. Patriots, Jaguars, Seahawks. No one is stepping forward to confirm anything. It’s funny. You’d think Vick raped someone or committed a terrorist act with the way the league is treating him. On one hand, I can understand that no team wants the bad publicity that could come with Vick. But if Vick gets on that field and helps his team into the playoffs and/or Superbowl, all that other stuff will fall to the side. The most important issues are the game and his performance in the game.
Which team do you think is going to pick Michael Vick up?
CELEBS MUST PAY TAXES

That includes Chris Tucker, Foxy Brown and Toni Braxton. These celebs are battling the IRS over reported unpaid taxes ranging from $79,000 to $3 Million. The IRS considers entertainers to be business owners. Therefore, they have to set aside money to pay taxes, instead of having it automatically taken out. One thing is for sure: there’s no way around Uncle Sam.
Why do celebrities have so many tax issues? Is it on purpose or is it just inefficient money management?
