I'm watching the BET Awards and I'm happy to say it doesn't totally suck. Kanye West's opening was...interesting and so far, it looks like Young Money is going to get the best of the awards. Alicia Keys made her appearance alongside her fiancee producer Swiss Beatz. Keys' performance was a medley that ended with Un-Thinkable. She wore a short, brownish dress that gathered along her pregnant tummmy.

Is it me or was Alicia Keys waving the hand with her engagement ring on it quite a bit? Just an observation.

While yesterday was the one year anniversary of musical icon Michael Jackson’s death, BET’s Stephen Hill announced that the network is planning a big tribute for him. All I have to say is: Let’s hope so. I was not pleased with what they came up with last year. The tribute was all over the place and there wasn’t that” wow” factor that Michael was so known for. Now, I understand that last year’s tribute was short notice because the news came so sudden and (of course) no one can ever measure up to Michael but, at least, honor the man right.

What does BET have to do to create the best tribute to Michael Jackson?

Singer/songwriter Ne-Yo recently confirmed that his girlfriend is pregnant. This will be the singer’s first child. If you’re thinking that he already has a child, that’s because one of his previous girlfriends had a baby and stated that it was his. In 2005, he found out that it’s not his biological child.

When it comes to his unborn child, Ne-Yo says that he doesn’t know the sex because the baby is curled up. I’m betting it’s a boy. I’m almost certain. Anyway, I’m happy for Ne-Yo. I’m sure he’ll be a great father and role model to his son, I mean, child. LOL Congrats!

What do you think his baby’s gender is?

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey (as if you didn’t know her by her first name) never ceases to amaze me. You can’t do what she does, unless you are coming from the heart. That’s why I will always love and respect her. She recently gave her magazine staff $10,000 and IPads with leather cases. The cases even had their names engraved on it.

I’m one of the people sad to see her show go off the air but I know that she will still have a huge presence and effect on our culture. Here’s to Oprah – until I can tell you in person how much I appreciate your positivity. Cheers!

What do you think of Oprah’s gifts to her staff?

By now, you’ve probably heard about the picture of 17 year-old, singer Miley Cyrus in a white sundress. A photographer took pictures of her as she was getting out of a car with her legs open. Blogger Perez Hilton linked the page and he’s taken some heat for passing a long this type of photo of an underage girl. The verdict is out on rather she was wearing underwear. Some people are saying that she was.

I don’t think it matters if she’s wearing underwear or not. I’ve never liked these types of pictures of people, especially women. It’s distasteful. Many are giving Perez Hilton a hard time but that I think the photographer who shot the picture, realized what he had and sent it to the media is the one who should really be ashamed of himself.

Do you think people are overreacting to the Miley Cyrus pictures?

Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith is on the cover of Essence magazine in the buff. She said her daughter inspired her to disrobe and that she wanted to teach her daughter self-acceptance. Jada is now entering the second season of her TNT show, HawthoRNe. I say if you got it, flaunt it.

What do you think of Jada’s nude cover?

I looked in the current issue of Vibe and noticed that they had a short story about music mogul, Diddy’s father, Melvin Combs. For those who don’t know, Diddy’s father was a street hustler who was murdered when Diddy was 2 years old. According to the article, there are many striking similarities between the two.

FYI, a few years ago, I had Susan Miller provide a yearly astrological forecast on www.etwireonline.com for a number of singers and personalities. Guess who she most wanted to sit down and talk to? None other than Diddy. She said his chart was really interesting and she would love to sit down and talk to him about it. Of course, I don’t know how he would feel about that. Do you think the media should be opening up this issue after all this time?

It’s funny reading about the predictions of the movie box office for the weekend. Some reports are stating that they expected The A-Team to come out on top. However, the latest version of The Karate Kid succeeded all other movies at $56 million for the weekend. I cannot say that I’m surprised. I think many people wanted to see how star Will Smith’s son, Jaden, would fair in the remake. Although I haven’t been able to see it yet, reviews seem to hint that the cast did a great job.

Have you seen The Karate Kid? Do you think Jaden Smith will end up acting for the long haul?

After his stint on Dancing with the Stars, Cincinnati Bengals Ocho Cinco is shooting his dating show for VH1. From the talk on the Internet, it sounds like he’s having fun but some are also making it sound like Ocho is excluding a certain race from his show. Namely the black race. According to a contestant and a staff member, Ocho is eliminating all black women from his show, favoring white and Latino women instead.

I’m sorry but this is another rumor I’m going to have to wait on. Unfortunately, we (black women) are sometimes quick to assume that we are being ostracized and alienated. We do it so often that our claims start to lose credibility. So, I think we should see how the show goes first.

Do you think Ocho Cinco should keep a certain number of black women on his show.

While many people are waiting for Tiny and TI to get married, mediatakeout.com is claiming that TI has called off his impending nuptials with Tiny. Supposedly, he is hitting clubs and parties with an old flame, Hoopz. You may remember her from Flavor of Love, featuring Flavor Flav in his pursuit of a woman. She won that season but the couple didn’t make it. Anywho, Hoopz was with TI briefly when Tiny and TI were on the outs a few years ago.

I’m going to wait a minute before I make a judgment on this one. This may not be true. Tiny and TI have devoted a lot of time to each other so I would have to hear this from another source before I call TI single and ready to mingle.

Do you believe that TI has called off the wedding?

First, Alicia Keys now divas Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. News this week is that the two women are pregnant. Dion’s pregnancy with twins has been confirmed, while Carey’s pregnancy is still unconfirmed. But signs point to a bun in the oven. Recently, people have noticed Carey gaining weight. She’s also pulled out of a movie role For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf due to doctor’s advice.

Who do you think will be pregnant next?

I would be lying to you if I told you I never watched The Golden Girls. In fact, I think I saw all the episodes growing up. Some childhood, huh? But seriously, the women of The Golden Girls were the Sex In The City, pre Sex In The City. Rue Maclanahan’s character Blanche was the “Samantha” of the group. Rue died of stroke Monday at 76 years old, a week after having bypass surgery. Now, the only living Golden Girl is Betty White.

Would there be a Sex In The City if there were no Golden Girls?
