Yesterday, I was a little surprised to read that Shape Magazine editor felt compelled to issue an apology to her readers for putting singer Leann Rimes on the cover. The editor said that it was a “terrible mistake” and she was sorry. Rimes took to Twitter to defend herself saying that she’s never heard this before and that the magazine was planning her a party.

Well, although I’m surprised that Shape issued an apology, I’m not surprised that their audience was not pleased with their cover choice. A lot of people really don’t care for Rimes anymore, rather they are justified in their opinion or not. I think they should have thought about that before they extended her an invitation. It would have saved them and Rimes the embarrassment.

Finally, singer Mariah Carey admits that she is pregnant. This week, she spoke to Access Hollywood with husband, Nick Cannon, to confirm what most people knew already. The reason Carey wouldn’t confirm the news before now is that it’s been tough having a baby and that she wanted to maintain some privacy. The news we didn’t know was that Carey suffered a miscarriage at the beginning of her and Cannon’s marriage.

Well, I am sorry to hear about their loss. I hear miscarriages and losing a child, in general, is never easy. So, for this reason I can understand why they were gun shy about confirming the pregnancy. I do hope that Carey has a safe pregnancy and that the baby is born healthy.

Do you understand why Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon waited so long to confirm the baby?

News broke this week that singer Monica is engaged to 24 year-old, NBA baller Shannon Brown. Although the two have only been dating for a few months, the 29 year-old singer says they know who they are, despite other people’s opinions.

Monica’s been through a lot personally. So, I really do wish her happiness. She’s not only one of my favorite singers; I think she’s also a quality artist that can be in the music business as long as she wants to. Now that I got that out of the way, two-three months is a very short period of time to get to know someone, especially when you plan to spend the rest of your life with them. I would be lying if I said I didn’t think they were going a little fast.

Do you think Monica’s relationship is going a little fast?

I’ve always heard that movie mogul Tyler Perry had suffered years of abuse as a child. This week, he laid all the details out there on Oprah. For the first time, he gave explicit details about being sexually abused by a neighbor, clergyman and his friend’s mother. He also talked about his father’s anger toward him and how he financially supports his father but cannot have a relationship with him.

I appreciate Perry’s honesty about his childhood. I always wondered what happened to him and why he never spoke out. So, it was good to see him tell his truth.

What do you think of Tyler Perry’s appearance on Oprah?

Call me crazy but I actually thought this rumor was true. The latest issue of US Weekly reports that singer Beyonce is pregnant. According to the magazine, she’s in her first trimester but the star’s mother, Tina Knowles, appeared on Ellen this week to shoot down the rumors.

I’m gonna hold out on this one. I would not be surprised if Beyonce does end up pregnant by the end of 2011.

Do you believe Beyonce is pregnant?

Well, it looks like divorce season is on a roll. First, the news that actress Courtney Cox has separated from actor/husband of 11 years, David Arquette. A couple days after the news broke of their separation, David (idiotically) called into the Howard Stern show and told him that he had sex with another woman a couple of times. Now, singer Christina Aguillera has filed from divorce from her husband of about 5 years, according to MTV.com. The singer sites the always convenient "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

My prediction...prepare yourselves for way more separations and divorces. This is not it. I remember maybe 4 or 5 years ago there were a ton of divorces. I think we will see a similar phase, especially in 2011. I believe this is a time when people will start to reevaluate their relationships and decide if they're really working. Some will decide that it's just not working and go their own way.

What do you think of the recent splits?

For some strange reason, actress Joan Collins thought it was a good idea to tell everyone what she thought was beautiful. In her not so humble opinion, starlet Angelina Jolie is the only beauty in Hollywood. In the next breath, she says that former "Friend," Jennifer Anniston is not beautiful. She says Anniston is cute but not a beauty.

Here's my question. Why is it that people feel comfortable dumping on Jennifer Anniston? That woman hasn't done anything to anybody. Yet, she somehow becomes the target of criticism for not being this or that. Is it not bad enough that, through no fault of her own, she will be forever linked to a woman that is now with her ex-husband? Why do we have to put this in her face every chance we get. It's sickening. Leave Jennifer Anniston alone. There is nothing wrong with her. Geesh!

What do you think of Joan Collins comments about Jennifer Anniston?

On October 14th, producer Swizz Beats and singer Alicia Keys welcomed a son into the world. According to several sources, the newlyweds named their son Egypt Daoud Dean. This is Keys first child and Beats fourth. The two married just a couple months ago.

Congratulations to the happy couple. I hope you enjoy parenthood and all that comes with it.

What do you think of the name Swizz and Alicia gave their son?

It looks like saving a suicidal man wasn't enough to keep rapper TI out of prison. This week he was sentenced to 11 months in prison for violating his probation. The rapper and his wife, Tiny, were arrested during a traffic stop where cops smelled marijuana and found a controlled substance in the car. This happened after he was released from prison earlier this year. His sentencing came just a couple of days after talking a man out of killing himself.

This isn't funny but, in a way, it is. It had to happen; he had to go back to prison. Obviously, it's not that bad for TI cuz he doesn't seem to mind going back, even though he has a wife and kids. I wish I had words of sympathy but I really don't.

What do you think of TI going back to prison?

The rumors are out and persistent about rapper 50 Cent and show host Chelsea Handler. However, the host recently denied the relationship on Twitter. She says they have been talking about doing a project together. Nothing more.

I believe Handler. Although she’s long made her interest in black entertainers known, I don’t think she’s actually dating one.

Do you believe that Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent are only trying to work together?

According to TMZ, it looks like Jackson matriarch, Katherine Jackson, will be talking to Oprah soon. The website reported that production trucks showed up at her Encino estate and stayed a little over an hour. They also noted that Oprah was not there but that they were likely collecting introductory footage.

What do you think the two will talk about Oprah’s show?

Yesterday, I was looking through some old things and I stumbled upon an old Sister 2 Sister magazine. It was from 2001 and singer Usher was on the cover with TLC member Chilli. In an interview inside the mag, Jamie Foster Brown asked Usher about his relationship with Chilli and he started talking about taking the singer to church with him. He mentioned that he liked to go hear his “spiritual father” Bishop Eddie Long preach.

It’s funny ; I had forgotten all about this interview. If you remember “spiritual father” is the same thing Long’s accusers called him. Now, I am in no way saying or even implying that Usher was victimized by Long but I do wonder if the singer ever saw the Bishop do things that made him scratch his head.

Somebody needs a really good accountant. According to various sources, singer Toni Braxton filed for bankruptcy this week. For those of you who don’t remember, Braxton filed back in 1998. This time she is citing that her debts total about $50 million.

I do not want to judge Toni but there seems to be a serious spending problem going on here. She should hire a good (referred) accountant and take some accounting classes herself because this has gotten way out of hand. I’d be pretty embarrassed, if I had to do this again.

What do you think Toni Braxton should do to correct her financial situation?

Don’t act like you don’t see it coming! If you’ve ever watched Fantasia For Real on VH1, you’ ve seen singer Fantasia’s colorful family. The most colorful peacock of them all has to be her younger brother Joe “Teeny” Barrino. In the second season of the show, the aspiring “Boss” continues his quest to make it in the music industry. He does it his way, which at times can be a little strange but you can see that he definitely has a plan.

I am so certain this guy will have his own reality show in another year. Mark my words, yall.

Do you think Fantasia’s brother Teeny, will make it in the entertainment industry?

Call me crazy but I’m certain that there is more to this story than has been reported. This week, singer Mario was arrested and charged with second degree assault against his mother. Reportedly, the singer tore up the apartment he and his mother live in and pushed her around. His lawyer says that the incident is between a loving son and his drug abusing mother. Their struggles have been documented in a show back in 2007, I Won’t Love You to Death.

It’s because of that show that I’m sure there’s more going on but I do hope that everything works out and that Mario is able to find some peace in his situation with his mother.

Do you think Mario really beat up his mother?

Young singer Bruno Mars is looking at 4 years in prison for felony cocaine charges. He was recently arrested for possession in Las Vegas. Ironically, almost as soon as news of his arrest hit the media, his song, Just the Way You Are, hit the top of the charts. His record label released a statement in support of the singer.

It’s too bad that Mars is experiencing such hardship when his career is just taking off. However, if history is any indication, this shouldn’t hurt him much. He’s already topping the charts. If he continues to work hard and promote his music, I don’t see his arrest having any negative effect on his career. More than likely, it will help it. Oh, and I’m certain he won’t get any jail time.
